TUNIS (LNC) – Published last Friday in the Tunisian Official Gazette, a decree of the President of the Republic, announcing “the deployment of a light rapid intervention company “LQRF “of 180 soldiers to the Centrafrican Republic under the flag of the United Nations.” This military intervention, according to the authorities, is part of the support provided to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Centrafrican Republic (MINUSCA).
These Tunisian soldiers will be tasked with intervention missions to protect the civilian population against attacks by armed groups, to secure the deployment area, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the protection of UN personnel and property.
They will also support disarmament, demobilisation, reintegration and repatriation (DDRR) operations, as well as human rights monitoring, as part of the missions assigned to MINUSCA.
